How to Make This Year Memorable BY ISABELLA CARLOW
In actuality, less than 10% of people complete their goals for the new year. Don’t be discouraged by this, but rather motivated- only you have the power to make this year what you want it to be. There's no set timeline, no due date, and no such thing as ‘failing’. Not sure where to begin? Here's a few tips to make this year purposeful, fun, and overall, memorable.
“Catch Me If You Can” – Thoughts on the Winter Play BY SAMUEL HIERS
The musical numbers were very catchy and infectious, and there were a lot more gags and comedic relief throughout the play. The best part, though? The talent! There was a lot of new blood with a lot of Freshmen in the play, and the actors who played the lead roles were phenomenal and very charismatic. If you had a chance to see the show, then good for you! But if you haven’t checked out what CHS Drama has to offer, I encourage you to “catch” the next show coming in the Spring “if you can!”
Making Changes: One CHS Student Reflects on Her Environmental Activism BY EMMA LAFLEUR
If we don’t make a change as soon as possible there will be no turning back. It is our responsibility to make the changes that we are capable of making, no matter how insignificant it may seem. One quote which has stuck with me regarding this topic is from Jane Goodall, who once said, In order to make this difference, we need to choose as a society to make the effort. There will be no future for us if we don’t start making changes. “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”

Scholarships Are an Important Part of College Readiness BY Hazel DuRoss
Scholarships are very important, especially if you don’t have much money to go to college. In general colleges are very expensive and can range from $30,000-$110,000 for 4 year colleges. However, to have the best chance at a scholarship, you should not only have high grades but also be involved in school. Additionally, putting in […]
Lady Oakers Soccer Comes to a Close BY HANNAH BISHOP
Although the Coventry Lady Oakers Soccer Team didn’t have the outcome they desired, they definitely had a memorable season. The results of their season were 6-4-7, and having seven ties didn’t help them in the rankings. However, they came to play, and the grit and determination from the girls was shown. For a majority of […]
Pondering the Phone Policy by Stephanie Taylor
“This is happening everywhere. It’s a statewide conversation, it’s a national conversation, it’s probably even going on around the world,” Mrs. Macomber said. “We’re now seeing the effects that social media and the phones have on all of us.”
Exploring Post-High School Options By Hazel Duross
If you're anything like me, you are wondering, what am I going to do after school? What college will I go to, or do I even want to go to college? Well some good news is that college executives have already come to CHS to talk with both juniors and seniors about the college experience.
Community Service Shines a Light on Teaching World Languages by Keely Sullivan
My appreciation for teachers grew even larger after teaching. My parents are both middle school teachers, so all my life I have witnessed behind the scenes how much effort they put into their classes, but I never truly felt what it was like to be responsible for all these children until I was standing at the front of those classrooms.

A New Addition To Our School: The Literature Club By ISABELLA CARLOW
The group reads a variety of genres, though their focus isn’t just limited to books- plays, poetry, short stories, and more are all included in the reading material. A vote is cast to determine what they’ll read for the next meeting, so everyone is involved in the picking process. After reading, the club engages in a group literary analysis of the texts with a combination of written and group discussion.
