Culinary students in the second semester will be experiencing their first event with the food truck on May 4th, 2024 for a RIDE-sponsored event at Chase Farm. This is the state's first-ever RI student food truck roundup. There will be music and some districts will be able to participate in a Battle of the Bands. Furthermore, medals for the best sweet and savory dishes will receive either the Governor's Cup for the savory dish or the Commissioner’s Championship for the best sweet dish.
As many know, CHS got a new food truck. I asked Mrs.Kehlbeck and Mr. Marsella the following questions. Why did you get the food truck for the school? Do you think you’ll be doing any events with the food truck? What benefits would future culinary students have regarding the food truck? Will the food truck be used by one singular class or the whole culinary program?
Why did you get the food truck for the school?
The Rhode Island Department of Education(RIDE) in Providence, RI offered the food truck to schools all around RI to promote hospitality within Coventry schools.
Do you think you’ll be doing any events with the food truck?

If you are involved in the culinary program at our school, you know it offers catering, a full-service restaurant, a bakeshop, and now a food truck. The teachers of the culinary arts program hope to teach students to use a food truck for future events.
Will the food truck be used by one singular class or the whole culinary program?
The teachers of the culinary program hope to use the food truck for the whole culinary program. As of now, it’s unclear which culinary group will get to use the food truck first or when the next event will occur, but it’s still exciting nonetheless. So if you have the time on May 4 come down to Chase Farm at noon for the first food truck event we have!
