Questions and Answers about PARCC Testing at CHS
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states that work together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. These tests give superior information about whether students are on track in their learning. Coventry High School’s guidance counselor, Mrs. Beaudoin, took time to give a very informative interview. She provided answers to some very important questions that YOU may have been asking.
Holocaust Speaker Visits CHS
On Wednesday, March 11th, the class of 2018 was visited by guest speaker Lillian Birch. Birch gave a compelling presentation about her mother and father, who both survived the Holocaust. Lillian was born after the Holocaust, but it still was able to have a great impact on her. She was about nine or ten years old when her mother began telling her stories, and she still doesn’t "know the whole of it." What she does know though she shares with students in middle and high school in an attempt at keeping their stories alive.
Rough Start for Spring Sports?
The outlook is positive for the upcoming season of Coventry High School’s very own softball and baseball teams.
CHS is Back on Track
Having the new track finally completed will make this track season better for everyone in Coventry High School. The track team has a new track to run on, which makes everyone involved happy and excited about hosting meets and invitationals.
The Mysterious Dress Sparks a Debate at Coventry High School
Social networking has changed the way that individuals communicate and interact with one another. The global debate regarding the color of the dress exemplifies the impact of social media on modern society.
CHS Drama Club Student Passes the Torch
I was extremely proud of my work on this play because the production had more cues than any of the plays I had previously worked on, forcing me to memorize them one at a time. After the successful show, I signed the booth in memory of the four successful plays I had worked on while at Coventry High School. I leave my post to a very special friend, Hannah Booth, who will be taking my place as the light operator. I wish all future drama participants good luck and fun times!
Spirit Week Adds a Dose of Excitement to CHS
The Freshmen Class of 2018 came into high school this year very spirited, but when it came time for Spirit Week, the excitement had dipped. The Sophomore Class of 2017 brought an outstanding amount of energy and were ready to win. The Junior class of 2016 tried to beat the seniors at all costs, but they ultimately came up short. There were people in every grade that didn’t try, while others went all out everyday. In the end, Spirit Week 2015 was won by the seniors.
CHS PRESENTS: And A Child Shall Lead
The beautifully executed play had a number of emotional scenes. There was sadness, laughter, and even romance.
The Benefits of Grasping a New Language
If I did not put in the effort to learn a second language, I would not have the chance to go on the trip of a lifetime.

Changes to the Prom at CHS
With all of the recent changes, we need to be informed. Since prom is one of the major events that we look forward to year after year, we would have liked to have known about the changes sooner. However, Mr. Hobin will be looking at the turnout and considering feedback before deciding if the new system worked, and whether or not the junior and senior prom will always be combined.
