Everything started off great, until one June night, when two songs into their set in Gothenburg, Sweden, Grohl fell off of the stage and broke his leg. But somehow, he continued the show! With a chair and a paramedic to keep his leg straight, Grohl continued belting out lyrics and ripping off great guitar riffs.

2015 has certainly been an eventful year in every sense of the word. From the sports world to the entertainment world and every little thing in between, there has been no shortage of big news. Yet somehow, 2015’s biggest moment (at least for one Seattle based band) happened in 2014. How is this, you ask? It all started with the November 10, 2014 release of the album Sonic Highways from the Seattle based band the Foo Fighters. This album was supposed to be big. It was their comeback to the rock music scene after their 2011 smash hit album Wasting Light. Also, it was even supposed to be produced by the legendary Bruce Vig, the mastermind behind Wasting Light and even Nirvana’s Nevermind, one of the most influential albums of the 1990’s. And Sonic Highways surely didn’t fail. This 8 track album was critically well received and marked the beginning of what was sure to be an amazing 2015 for the band. By 2015, all the tour dates were published and the international leg of the Sonic Highways tour was just about ready to set off. Granted, some later shows were cancelled, but Grohl was not about to let this tour end. It was then that he and his roadies built a throne for him to sit on and continue touring.
Now, I was more than lucky enough to go to one of the Foo Fighters shows in 2015 at Fenway Park on July 18th. This show was nothing short of amazing. Grohl is one of the greatest frontmen to own the title and even while sitting on a throne constructed with the necks of broken guitars, his stage presence is incredible. I was on my feet for the entirety of the show and even got goosebumps at certain parts. That’s just how great a show they put on.
But, this tour wasn’t just it. The album wasn’t just it. Recently, just before Thanksgiving, the band released a 5 song EP titled “St. Cecilia”. After recently listening to it, I can say with confidence that it is just as good, maybe even better in some parts, than Sonic Highways. And the best part? The EP in its 5 song entirety is free on the ITunes store. If you are at all interested in the Foo Fighters or rock music in general, you owe it to yourself to check out this EP. You won’t be disappointed.
2014-2015 was an incredible and eventful time for the Foo Fighters, and one neither the band nor their fans will ever forget. Hopefully, this album and EP mark that this legendary band is back and here to stay.
