Being nice to someone, making them smile or laugh, just making their day shows inner beauty. If you can take the time to make someone else happy, you are truly a beautiful person.

You Are Beautiful
What does it mean to be beautiful? Does it truly mean something different to everyone? All interpretations are different, but what isn’t is the way you show it. Being nice to someone, making them smile or laugh, just making their day shows inner beauty. If you can take the time to make someone else happy, you are truly a beautiful person.
The Interact Club here at CHS is sponsoring the YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL campaign, which is a campaign of smiles. This campaign will start with the Interact team passing on the message of kindness through one person at a time. Each member gets a bundle of You Are Beautiful stickers to hand out two at a time. The goal is then for the person who gets the stickers to keep one and pass on the other. The stickers aren’t to be given to close friends, but rather they are to be passed to strangers. So if you get a sticker, who would you give it to? A fellow student, a faculty membe,r or someone you have never met before. After all, everyone deserves to feel beautiful.
During an Interact meeting, some of the members stated:
“The You Are Beautiful Campaign is just a campaign to remind people that when they are feeling down or sad that they are truly important and will always remain beautiful.”
~President Chelsea Shea
“These stickers and posters are a way for the more timid kids to see that they really do shine and are noticed. Also to provide a message to everyone that we shouldn’t put others down but lift them up because a lot of kids in this school do not realize how beautiful they really are.”
~Treasurer Alexa Almonte and Member Dan McKnight
“This is a way to spread a positive message throughout our school to the people who need to hear it!”
~Club Co-Coordinator Mrs. Leavitt
Like everything in life, whether big or small, there are always the high moments and the low moments. But just because people have low moments, we shouldn’t stop being nice and caring about people. Our school community as a whole is so much more fun when we step aside from the drama and see how radiant everyone is. There are many different types and groups of people in high school, but many of us wear masks and hide ourselves and never show anyone what we can really be. We hide creativity, we dumb down so people will like us, we don’t take a stand when we see someone being teased. But this whole campaign can change that. When it ends, keep up being nice. Keep making sure every person comes out of their shell and rises to their full potential. For some of us, high school is the last four years with a lot of these people and times flies by fast. Soon, the class of 2018 will be graduating and in all that time, if you were the one hiding wouldn’t you want someone to notice you? Carry out the kindness and make new friendships. Make the relationships last and make sure everyone sees how beautiful they really are.
Whenever you see a sticker or a poster, just remember that everyone deserves to shine with every color that can illuminate their essence. They shouldn’t be put down because of standards others set. Even if you do not receive a sticker, it does not mean no one notices you. It means you are the one who goes out of the way to be truly beautiful and you are your own sticker. Let this Campaign be a true campaign of smiles. 🙂
