Saying Goodbye
Another school year has passed and a new one will soon approach, causing the cycle to start over again. Today, sadness will not dwell in us because we are not saying a farewell or goodbye. For now, we are just stating, see you later!
Saying Goodbye
By Kacie Boeglin
Another school year has passed by and another group of seniors are about to graduate. It’s time to say goodbye.
Coming into CHS, you are bound to have a variety of classes. As a freshman, you meet students from the upper grades and you make a number of new friendships with classmates, teachers, and faculty. When the time comes, you have to leave the past behind and say goodbye. The end of the school year brings tears, hugs, and lots of heartfelt talks. First, you think of the friends that you won’t see this summer. Then your thoughts start to escalate. Soon, thoughts of your upper class friends filter in, and you realize how hard it is to say the word goodbye. Saying farewell does not mean “see you later.” A farewell means that you are never coming back.
There will always be people walking in and out of your life, but who you want to stick around depends on you. Don’t be a shadow in the background filled with sadness. Be the commander of an army entering battle and take charge. Keeping in touch with a friend is not hard. Go around and get phone numbers, emails, or even make plans to see each other over the summer. With all of the social media, it’s difficult to avoid people, misplace information, or forget somebody.
Every person that has come into your life has changed you and been changed by you. Each of your essences has blessed each other and nothing can change that, which makes saying goodbye so difficult. High school may be four years, but those years go by fast. Another school year has passed and a new one will soon approach, causing the cycle to start over again. Today, sadness will not dwell in us because we are not saying a farewell or goodbye. For now, we are just stating, see you later!
