Homecoming Tailgate a Success

The Homecoming Parade is an event that everyone in the school has the opportunity to participate in. Usually, the parade is held the Saturday of the Homecoming Dance. This year that was not the case due to lots of rain and unpredictable weather, yet we were still able to show off the floats.
The student body sadly found out that the parade was going to be cancelled. Yet luckily we were told that on November 4th we would be given the opportunity to show off our floats. This would be done during a tailgate that would precede the football and cheerleading Senior Nights, along with a football game.
As planned, the freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors, World Language Club and Student Council all gathered in the Brown parking lot to show off their floats. This year, the theme was “Around the World”. Each float was centered around this theme.
The freshman worked hard on their float featuring Mexican culture, but it was not able to withstand the weather and collapsed. On their float, they depicted ruins and other symbols of México’s country. The sophomore’s float was centered around Italian culture and featured the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a gondola and pasta dinner. Their float looked amazing, and accurately represented their culture. The junior float embraced the culture of Paris and featured many love locks and Eiffel tower. There was also a bike to represent the culture of cycling. The seniors float featured Egyptian pyramids and heads. The World Language Club represented every culture and featured a ginormous globe and every member wore a different country’s flag. Student Council chose the United States as their theme and included a Hollywood sign and the Washington Monument on their float.
The tailgate entertained all the students with games and food. Afterwards, everyone proceeded to the Football field where senior football players and cheerleaders were celebrated. This was emotional for everyone involved as their parents joined them on the field.
Everyone is already looking forward to next year’s parade; hopefully we don’t get rained out!
