BY Sydney Taylor
Although Rhode Island’s weather can be a bit unpredictable, fall has officially arrived and is in full swing. So, if you are a fan of the changing leaves, autumn festivities, and spooky halloween adventures then you have come to the right place. Here The Entry offers readers a list of some activities that are sure to get you in the fall spirit. Whether you are with friends, or just enjoying a day out, this will get you ready for everything leading up to your Halloween.
Scary movie night- Gather a few friends, sit around the tv and watch your favorite Halloween classics. (For a list of the top 5 halloween movies to watch during this get together- read Ricky Leonard’s story on the subject)
Halloween parties- If you can’t wait to show your excitement until October 31st, decorate your house in all things Halloween and throw a party. It gives everyone an excuse to dress up, and maybe you can have a costume contest for the ones that do!
Apple Picking- Of course a Fall classic, go to one of the local apple orchards and pick a bag of apples.
Seasonal Baking- When Autumn comes around, all the pumpkin, and apple treats start to take over the shelves, but if you’d rather have some homemade fall goodies in your home, gather all the ingredients you need and create the perfect masterpiece. (you could use the apples you picked to create an apple pie!)
Pumpkin Hayrides- Such as apple picking this is also a cult favorite. To pick the perfect pumpkin has been a Fall tradition for many years. Not only is it fun for kids but when it’s over you have a doorside decoration. Or the canvas for a jack-o-lantern.
Corn Mazes- Although it can be annoying not knowing where to turn, Fall time is the perfect time of year to partake in going to a corn maze, seeing all the incredible designs and getting a laugh in when you inevitably get lost at least once throughout.
Local attractions worth a visit are:
Scary Acres- If you like being scared, or want to experience what everyone’s been talking about, open Friday-Sunday, scary acres in Hope, RI is sure to leave you screaming.
Field of Screams- A haunted house attraction in West Greenwich is one of the many Halloween favorites in Rhode Island, and is a great place to go with friends, or if you are brave enough to concur it alone.
