Finding One’s Artistic Voice By Christiana Votta
The first step to truly finding your "artistic voice" is to create things that make you feel good, and therefore helps bring you personal fulfillment.
On October 9th, 2021, Scituate, R.I. held its annual art festival. Every year, artists and collectors unite to sell their creations/antiques. The event was canceled the previous year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, so the town was very lucky to be able to host it this year. There were many exhibitors this year and as always, an abundance of people.
While I was looking at all the art stalls, I couldn’t help but be inspired by how these artists came together to sell their artworks. It made me want to come back and exhibit my own art. Inspiration can be found anywhere. It can be found in a book, or maybe in the words that someone has spoken. Inspiration ties into one’s artistic voice.
We use inspiration to express ourselves and our inner thoughts. That’s what’s so great about making art because it can be about anything and other people’s opinions don’t matter when it comes to our creations. I feel like the first step to truly finding your “artistic voice” is to create things that make you feel good, and therefore helps bring you personal fulfillment. To conclude, inspiration is truly something that is interpreted by the individual, and there is no single answer or 1-2-3 step process to creating art.
