- Rhode Island Community Food Bank
The food bank is always looking for volunteers to help out! Spend a few hours of your time any weekday to help the organization that donates about 200,000 pounds of food each week. Email volunteer coordinator Jeanne Hebert at jhebert@rifoodbank.org to set up your next date.
- Save the Bay
Save the Bay hosts several events throughout the year to help keep Rhode Island’s beaches clean, and you can be a part of the next one. Email jlewis@savethebay.org to find ways to get involved.
- Coventry Public Library
The library often has various opportunities for teens to volunteer. To find out if they are currently looking for volunteers, you can call at (401) 822-9100.
- Roger WIlliams Park Zoo
Spend this summer as a counselor for the children at Roger Williams’ ZooCamp. This is perfect for underclassmen looking to earn as many community service hours as possible for NHS, as you can accumulate more than 200 hours by the end of the summer. If interested, fill out the application on their website and send it to volunteer@rwpzoo.org.
- Lifespan and Care New England Hospitals
Nearly any hospital in Rhode Island will accept teen volunteers to help out. To volunteer at Rhode Island Hospital or Hasbro Children’s Hospital, fill out the Lifespan application. To volunteer at Butler, Kent, Memorial, or Women & Infants, fill out the Care New England application.
- Amos House
Volunteer at the Amos House soup kitchen to help feed the hungry from Monday to Saturday during their breakfast and lunch shifts from 6:30a.m. – 8:30a.m. and 9a.m. – 1p.m. Email volunteer@amoshouse.com to schedule your shift.
- Providence Children’s Museum
The Children’s Museum has various community service opportunities and is always looking for new volunteers. If you love working with kids, this can be a great place to volunteer. Fill out the application on their website if interested.
- Be the Change
Be the Change is a small organization in West Warwick that collects and donates food, clothing, toiletries, etc. to members of the community in need. To get involved, email btcsundaymeal@yahoo.com.
- Habitat For Humanity
Be a part of the organization that works to end homelessness. Fill out the online application to help out the Warwick building team or email schabitat@southcountyhabitat.org to help out at the Charlestown ReStore.
- Clothes to Kids
Clothes to Kids collects and donates clothing for low-income students in Providence County. The organization runs almost entirely on volunteers, and so they are always looking for people to help out. Fill out the application on their website to get involved.
- Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House is a program to help sick children and their families. There are plenty of opportunities for volunteers to help out with planning activities, assist in the family room, and perform clerical work. Fill out the application online if interested.
