An Affair to Remember: Junior/Senior Ball 2015
The music picks up and girls drag their dates and friends onto the dance floor. You’re having so much fun that it’s hard to escape to the photo booth for a handful of shots to remember the night. A few more hours pass by. You are dancing and having the time of your life. Eleven o’ clock strikes, and you have forgotten this is not the age of Gatsby, but Coventry High School's 2015 Junior Senior Prom.
An Affair to Remember
By Hannah Bongiovanni
Picture this. You walk into a grand room with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the lights dimmed to give a mysterious early 1920s atmosphere. You see tables decorated in pearls, royal blue bottles, and white feathered boas. Girls and guys float around the room in their best tuxes and gowns while greeting each other. This night has been planned and prepared for months. As you walk up the stairs, your picture can be taken next to a pedestal of white feathers. Above you is a sign proclaiming, “Welcome to the Roaring 20s.” Sometime later you are asked to take a seat at your table to socialize and dine on a three course meal. Bread and salad are the first to be placed in front of you with a light Italian dressing drizzled on top. The bread is passed around and everyone is asking for seconds. The main course consists of a choice between lemon chicken breast and steamed green beans or ziti pasta, red sauce, and a handful of small meatballs. Everyone laughs and compliments the entree. Cookies and brownies are served for dessert, and although many people are full, they still have room for dessert.
