Due to the COVID 19 crisis and some concerns over students being able to access required books this summer, CHS has suspended summer reading requirements for this year. There will not be an assessment in the fall given in English classes as is usually the case.
Of course, CHS encourages all students to READ this summer. Increased time reading can improve reading, writing, and spelling ability, cultivate larger vocabularies, and develop understanding of complex grammatical structures. Reading this summer can help prevent summer learning loss or setback often referred to as the “summer slide,” which is a devastating loss of academic achievement that many students experience during the summer months.
